Overland Track Tasmania

Tasmania

Since 2023 I have been the proud owner of a beautiful piece of bushland in Tasmania, which I now call home 🌿Over the years I’ve been exploring every corner of this stunning island.
Through a collaboration with Tasmanian Expeditions, I am finally able to share one of my favourite wilderness journeys here with you.

You are cordially invited to join me on the legendary Overland Track, widely regarded as the finest alpine walk in Australia.

Travelling north to south, the trail crosses Tasmania’s highest wilderness, from the base of wulinantikala / Cradle Mountain 🏔️ to the rainforest shores of liyawulina / Lake St Clair 🌊, the deepest natural lake in the Southern Hemisphere.

We traverse a World Heritage-listed landscape of ancient myrtle rainforest, glaciated dolerite peaks and vast alpine plateaus dotted with tarns.

Over the coarse of six days, we move through a remarkable range of vegetation zones: from cool temperate rainforest to subalpine scrub and alpine heath. Along the way, we are likely to encounter some of Tasmania’s unique and endemic wildlife 🦘, in a landscape that feels both ancient and deeply alive.

There are several optional side trips, including the ascent of Tasmania’s highest mountain, Mt Ossa.

This trek is suitable for fit first-time bushwalkers comfortable carrying a fully loaded pack (approx. 14–18 kg). We will be trekking approximately six or seven hours a day, with optional add-ons. The terrain is rugged and remote.

💰Trip price includes:

  • Pre-trip meeting in Launceston
  • Transport by private minibus between/from Launceston
  • National Park fees
  • Overland Track Permit
  • All food, including 5 breakfasts, 6 lunches, 5 dinners, snacks and hot drinks
  • Cooking equipment
  • Day 3 food drop, allowing for lighter packs and fresh Tasmanian produce
  • Tents (twin share)
  • Lake St. Clair ferry passage ⛴️
  • Emergency communications & group first aid kit
  • 24 hour back-up

You will receive a detailed packlist upon booking. If you don’t already own required gear, you can rent a Trek Pack (including a 70–90L backpack, sleeping bag, sleeping liner, inflatable mattress and gaiters) for an additional €65.

I recommend arriving a few days early to recover from jetlag and explore Tasmania’s other highlights, including the Tamar valley! A mandatory pre-trip briefing will take place in Launceston on february 27th, the day before departure.

If you would like to extend your time in Tasmania after the trek, I am happy to help you explore options.

⚠️ This trip requires a minimum of 7 participants. Please do not book international flights until the departure has been confirmed.
